The Standoff
Our horses had a standoff with the horses next door the other day. I was sitting by the river when I heard weird grunting noises and hooves hitting the snow. They weren’t very friendly with one another and they didn’t stick around long. Alice led the pack away and they joined the cows on hay that was rolled out for them earlier. Knuckleheads.
Wow standoff of horses,it must have been fun to watch.

I love the viewpoint of looking through the trees to the horses being horses. Between your property and those around you, how many horses are there in total?

Gosh, maybe 15 or 20? Out of our 3, only 1 is broke to ride. Patrick just doesn’t have time to ride since we are not full time ranchers anymore. And I’m not experienced enough to ride alone. Our neighbors ride more than us I’m sure.
I was sitting on a log and I wanted the shot but I knew if I got up they would break it up so I stayed put and shot through the trees. Then I needed to make some noise for them to break it up. They could have gotten scratched or tangled on the fence and that wouldn’t have been good at all. But like you, I liked that view through the trees. 🙂
