Tilda Tuesday: with Harriet

Matilda loved my mother. When mom came to my apartment, Matilda came out from wherever she was snoozing to get in her lap. In fact any and all cats loved that woman and she loved them right back.
I shot this sometime in ’06 after mom went through months of hefty chemotherapy treatments. Her hair was growing back in and she was feeling pretty good.
This Thursday marks 7 years since mom passed. I thought this would be a fitting shot for today’s Tilda Tuesday.

Awe thanks Pony! In my younger years, I looked a lot like the Yetter side of the family. Once I got into my teens though, I started to look more and more like mom and her side of the family. I got her smile, just wish I had her nose. She had such a perfectly shaped nose. 😉

It’s been 7 years on Saturday since my dad left us. I really enjoy your Tilda Tuesday posts, they always brighten my day. 🙂

Thank you for you comment Lacey. Time flies, huh. The first 3 years were the hardest. Now I try to stick with happy memories with happy tears but around the anniversary, it’s always hard. She passed on Halloween morning which was so surreal. Driving to the funeral home through streets dressed in cobwebs, ghosts and goblins was just plain weird. I kept wanting to say, “my mom just died! Stop what you are doing”! I just figured the whole world should be still. I guess our world was.

though the picture made my eyes well up, I am so glad you posted it! You’re right, cats loved your mom. I will never forget all the trouble she went to for the cat with asthma. I never even knew cats could get asthma. I loved your mama, too, honey. I lost mine young as well, as you know, but both of them sure made a difference in their worlds. That is all we can really hope,for. I love you, sweetie.

I bet you’re very glad you have this. I read your comment about your Mom passing on Halloween and I can imagine how surreal that must have been. And it just makes it harder to get through the anniversary when it’s marked by everyone else in such a big way, but for totally different reasons. Tough time of year for it too. Good that you’ve come around to enjoying the good memories; it does take time for the painful ones to retreat.
