Birds of Happiness

Posted in Nature, Photography by leahyetter on March 11, 2013

It’s been a tough winter and when the “blizzard” passed us over this weekend, I had a feeling a spring day may peek through. That day was yesterday. Bluebirds were chirping all over the ranch so I hung out with them most of the afternoon. It was such a pretty sight to see these bursts of bright blue amid the grey and brown.

It’s still a little early but springtime is knocking on our door. Still hoping for a few bouts of winter moisture but I’ll take the song of the bluebird anytime.
Happy Monday my friends, I hope you are staying warm and feeling happy. I’m certainly getting there!

I love the way the blue stands out against the brown.

Thanks Brian! Me too! It’s such a nice contrast. I know we get beautiful blue skies even in winter, but there is something about little flutters of blue all around the trees and ground.

Loving your captures – thanks for sharing:) We had a young male quail scared out of its wits hit the house yesterday – scared us – he recovered in the pine tree and took off. Then we had a bluejay stop by and stay for a while. Happy Spring – Happy Monday!

When you said blizzard I was thinking birds so read it as buzzard. Expecting shots of circling buzzards because I know this winter has been difficult and thought you had chosen buzzards for the illustration. Pretty little blue birds much better.

Ha! The weatherman threatened “Major Snowstorm! Biggest storm of the winter!” and all we got was… nothing. Barley even a dusting on the deck. We got the cows situated, stacked firewood inside, water boiling for hot tea, etc. And nothing. Very disappointing. But it was a happy sight to see these bluebirds. It means warmer weather and hopefully better times are in store.

Oh, I lovelovelove it! A blue bird is a wonderful thing. And like you said, looks particularly pretty against the still brown landscape.

Thank you! These bluebirds showed up in my dreams last night. I haven’t seen them since this day. Well, except for last night. 😉
