At Sunset
It’s hard to be outside in the middle of the day because the heat is high and the air is so dry. But I do enjoy a good hike while the sun goes down. Here are some captures of my wanders.
The turkey hens and their chicks are still hanging in there.
We don’t have as many sunflowers this summer like we usually do but a couple have popped up along the road.
There’s a storm rollin’ in.
Patrick is now riding Crazy Alice. After working with her in the round pen during his down time, putting shoes on her fresh hooves, and working her a little around cows and other horses, we feel she’s coming along quite well.
Notice the rain in the left of the image and a partial rainbow, we call a sundog, in the right of the image. But because we are in such a drought, the rain evaporates before making it to down to the ground.
Antelope ran from me and the sound of thunder.
I hope you have a great week. My thoughts today are with the folks along the gulf coast. If I could, I’d take all that rain from you in a heartbeat.
Oh my gracious – these are beautiful. Um…. the sunflower as a card? Perhaps? Maybe? How did you do that, Leah? Really. Is it possible to get cards made – like stationery. What a perfect ‘blank’ card to send to friends/family for various things.

Thanks Lenore! Yes, I can make cards! Sounds like I need to get my rear in gear. We’ll email and discuss this issue soon. 🙂

Did you name the horse after me? Ha! Love the antelope–I have not seen any in a long time. Love the sunflower too.

Ha! You know we did, Alice! I liked the antelope shot too. I shoot them a lot because we have so many of them but rarely do I get a shot that I really like. Silhouettes are winners in my book! 🙂 Thanks Alice.

Amazing photos. We’ll keep our fingers crossed that some rain reaches you soon!
As a side question: I was wondering what camera you use? Your photos have such a beautiful quality, and I’ve been looking at different cameras, hoping to get one sometime in the near future…

Thank you!
I get asked that question all of the time. I shoot with Canon DSLR’s and lenses. I’ve been shooting professionally for 12 years and have been building my gear bag for that long. The Canon Rebel cameras with the kit lens are great but really it depends on how much $ you want to spend. I’ve just started playing with the Panasonic Lumix cameras. You can find them in the $300-$500 range. A couple of these shots are from that camera. Really sharp, great macro, and even does really good video. Hope this helps!
