I was working on a landscape shot when crazy Alice slowly worked her way into my lens. This was much better than what I had originally planned for…. and I think she knew that. Thanks Alice, you are a wonderful subject.

I like her forehead swirl, like some omniscient 3rd eye which told her you were taking a shot 🙂

    • leahyetter said, on December 9, 2011 at 2:10 pm

Where the swirl is located on the horse, determines how much sense the horse has. If the swirl is below the eyes, she’s going to take a lot of work. If it’s above the eye, it means she’s a smart one. But I like thinking it’s her third eye. 🙂 Thanks for viewing and commenting!

Well, Patrick the cowboy is my worst critic when it comes to my portraits of the horses. If the ears are turned a certain way or if the head is tilted wrong, boy he’s quick to tell me it’s a wrong pose. But I think horses are gorgeous creatures and I agree with you, it’s hard to take a bad picture of one. You have a good weekend too!

In the art world this photo would be almost abstract. The way the background melts into the face, and how the face blends with the main is a beautiful pattern that is not recognizable except for her beautiful eyes.

Crazy Alice was the name of a wild horse in the John Wayne movie, the Cowboys. There are so many horses out here and she has yet to be properly named. So I call her Crazy Alice. She’s a lot of fun though. Thanks for commenting!

There is a John Wayne move, The Cowboys, and in it he has a horse named Crazy Alice. Our Alice doesn’t have a true name, We’ve called her lil bit for a long time. She’s just a colt and has never been ridden, therefore she’s a little wild…just because she’s young. But I think she’s got some sense and will turn into a fine horse if she gets ridden. It’s totally a term of endearment. Thanks for stopping by!

Perfect shot! Congrats on FP! That was a beautiful picture… Makes me want to visit some horses, they are my favorite animal. So handsome and regal.

Congrats on this! Certain subjects just love to be photographed, both animals and plants alike. I have experienced a few butterflies who seemed to pose for me – as if they wanted to be in the right position!
