Now you don’t.

I feel so lucky that this little fawn and it’s mother have taken up residence in the front meadow.

Have a wonderful weekend my friends.♥

    Beautiful, such rich colours. :)

Thanks! It’s one of the few spots of green grass around here since we’re so dry. I love the contrast of the grass and the the browns and reds on the fawn.

Amazing. I met a young buck and his doe during my walk this morning.

    • leahyetter said, on June 29, 2012 at 9:52 am

Thanks Lenore! What a lovely morning. I spooked a young buck last night by accident. Patrick got home from fighting a fire and I ran out to greet him and the buck scattered! Didn’t mean to scare him but I was happy to see my man!

Oh, you captured the fawn so perfectly. I particularly like the second image–with the spots (and ears) blending with the grasses.

    • leahyetter said, on June 29, 2012 at 10:42 am

Thank you for the compliment Alice! I love the color contrast with these images as well.
We have a horse that we are starting and we’ve named her Alice. She’s my favorite.

    • leahyetter said, on June 29, 2012 at 10:44 am

Thank you! Just a few yards away. I was sitting on my porch and it popped up looking for momma.

All babies, even animal babies, find such wonder in the world. It’s fun to watch them discover as they explore. You have such a wonderful window into that world, Leah, and you capture it so poignantly. These are beautiful. Thank you, too, for answering all the comments. I appreciate being invited in and welcomed so warmly. Have a great one!

They are amazing to watch play. I saw a set of twin fawns last week and I refused to take my eyes off them long enough to fish for camera behind the drivers seat, I just wanted to watch. Enjoy the time you have with them close to you soon they will head for the deep woods :(

  32. iRuniBreathe said, on June 29, 2012 at 10:33 pm

These are great shots! So vivid. There’s a herd of urban deer I run by almost every day. They are so close and seem so tame, like someone’s pet dog. They are urban deer, though, and have simply adapted themselves to their new land. The other day I saw one on its hind legs eating apple blossoms from a high tree branch in a neighbor’s front yard. You’ve inspired me to bring my camera along to try capture some of them.
    Cheers,

Hello fellow Wyomingite. Great shot of the fawn. I was out hiking about a week ago- I wanted to hike fast for a good workout and left my camera in the truck. Well, you know what that means. As I walked along a small ridge I looked down into the hiding place of twin fawns in the tall grass! Dang! No camera! They were very young and I didn’t want to scare them out of the safe place where mama had stashed them. I had to console myself with simply watching them watching me.

    Hi Leah,

Wow! Your pictures are truly breathtaking. You are so fortunate to be living so close to nature. So much space! I get such a sense of freedom when I see the beautiful landscapes and wonderful views, I love it. Your pictures of the little fawn are truly stunning. At first I thought it was a painting. The colors are so rich, and when you look into the eyes it feels like a private moment. You have captured it beautifully.

    Wishing you all the best!

    From Holland,

    Larissa

So lovely Leah! Your photos make me feel like I’m right on the ranch. I bet the mom and fawn are pretty comfortable with you around. I can see the gold of dry grass in the background. Have there been many wildfires in the area? I’m way behind on reading due to a funky computer….I’ll start reading where I left off so I’m more informed. (:
