Ceanothus Silkmoth

Ceanothus silkmoth
This furry creature has taken up residence at our back door off and on for a month now. Not sure if there is just one or several taking turns.
When my friends were out last month, they named her Lunesta.

The warm colors really make this shot. I’ve enjoyed following your blog since I joined earlier this year.
What camera are you using?
Thanks Dee Dee! I shoot with Canon. I have the 20D, 30D, 40D, 60D. I shoot professionally so I have a plethora of Canon lenses as well. I don’t get into the Canon/Nikon war. I learned on Canon therefore I shoot Canon. My dad shoots with Nikon so that makes for occasional heated discussions.
Never saw a moth that is as beautiful as this one. Very pretty. Thanks
Thanks Susan!
Personaly I am a butterfly guy, but as moths go that is the most beuatiful one you will ever see.
Thanks Wiley! I’m a butterfly gal, but I thought this moth was gorgeous too. I’d like a comforter in that wing pattern.
Oh yes! That would be beautiful.
I think if a Luna or other moths make their way to your door you will LOVE THEM TOO
Wow, that’s stunning!
Isn’t it though! I enjoy her welcoming me home every now and then.
Leah, your photo is lovely. Would you allow me to share it with my Pinterest followers? I have a board where I pin images of butterflies and other insects and I want to pin your photo there. I would, of course, give you full credit and link to your blog. If you agree please let me know what you’d like me to put as credit and your link. Thank you.
Thank you very much Suzy. I appreciate you asking permission and I will be delighted for you to share this with your Pinterest followers. Enjoy!
Absolutely beautiful. I love the contrast of the butterfly with all it’s finery, and the humble wood planks.
Thank you! I found the contrast quite pleasing to the eye as well. Thanks for commenting!
This is a beauty
Absolutely gorgeous! I love moths and butterflies.
Lunesta is a beautiful moth!! I had never seen one like this!
Gorgeous…amazing the colors and designs in nature!
I absolutely love this picture – the restricted palette, the sharpness…
It’s a beautiful moth and a beautiful composition.
